Re: How important are A Level grades in application?

There is no single way of selecting amongst applications. Some courses care about A-level marks, some don't. But whether or not they do it won't do you any harm, surely?

Re: Do individuals marks matter as much as GPA?

Each course makes their own decisions, there is no hard and fast rules. And GPA isn't really a term used in the UK muchm which might be why you didn't get any answers.

I don't think we know the answer! But Huwtube might if you PM him, as he has just trained there.

Re: 3rd wave therapies

This was posted in the wrong place, so I have moved it and bumped it in case anyone has any comments. But you might want to ask in the qualified CPs peer group rather than on the open forum if it is a discussion for qualified CPs.

This was posted in the wrong section. I don't know if the OP still wants some help, but I've moved it and thought I'd bump it in case anyone had advice to offer.

Re: How to improve academic on application

I'd get someone independent to have a look at your application form, as your academic and experience should be good enough to get more than a blanket of four nos, so I wonder if it is how you are selling what you have got. But I'd also second Ell's suggestion to try to publish a paper, as that stand...

Re: Do we want a clinpsy conference? If so, what should it c

One good suggestion already "does mental illness exist?" - to allow us to consider the diagnostic debate, nature vs nurture and nature of conceptual models to explain discrepancies from self and social expectations... The Trauma one would be good. I'd quite happily speak from a personal point of vie...

Do we want a clinpsy conference? If so, what should it cover

I've been thinking since we started this forum over a decade ago, about whether there would be value in hosting a clinpsy conference. But I've never quite figured out the logistics of whether there would be enough interest, and what it would cover. So I thought it was about time to set up a poll to ...

Re: HCPC/BPS and foreign doctorates

No, I don't think so. If you get HCPC equivalence then I don't think the BPS have any say in whether you can practice here or not.

You might find one of them pays more! When I was an AP doing a research post it was paid £3k less than being an RA.

Re: NICE guidelines & service based research in the NHS

Yeah, likewise. I think that people acknowledge NICE is what patients should be able to expect (and can use as a yardstick if they want to complain), but it is not always delivered, whilst some non-NICE-endorsed interventions are. The purpose of NICE is to try to recommend best practise, and to enco...

Re: 2018 Doctorate Application Progress thread

I've split some of these discussions out of the main progress thread as they are interesting but off topic. I have (finally!) received feedback from Coventry and Warwick and they have advised that I need 'more evidence of personal development through clinical experience'...Can anyone enlighten me as...

Re: Anybody been in teaching beforehand?

You aren't old, and you bring lots of transferable skills. I'd apply for some AP posts in child and family services (private as well as NHS) and that MSc if you fancy it, and see what comes up. Courses are less competitive than AP roles (although private AP roles are much less competitive than NHS o...

Re: WARNING - SLVolunteers / Sri Lanka placements

I must say, I am shocked to read that they are not registered as a charity. They make it very clear to us both before and during out time volunteering that it is a not for profit organisation, and that all money goes to our homestay families or local project coordinators (Sri Lankan’s who help us w...
