Psychology Assistants - Intern Opportunities 

Commencing September 2015

The School: Situated on a spacious, leafy campus with impressive facilities, Sotogrande International School is an IB World day and boarding School offering the IB programmes from PYP in our Primary school, to MYP in our Middle School and through to the IB Diploma in our Upper school. Now in its 36th year, the school has grown steadily and enjoys an excellent reputation for quality education in Spain. The student body will grow to 700 students by September 2015. We currently have waiting lists in a number of year groups with 100 students studying the IB Diploma Programme in our Senior School, where academic standards are high. The most recently graduated cohort scored an average IB Diploma score of 34 points. We are not, however, just an academically focused school. Our drive is to educate the whole child and support students to find their own passions, drives and talents.

Sotogrande International School is a well established IB World School where we are committed to developing our students as effective learners.  This includes providing personalised learning approaches and supporting all students in their development including positive mental health.  We have appointed a Clinical Psychologist dedicated to our school and applications are now invited from Psychology Assistants to join as Interns for a minimum 1 year period.

The successful applicants will be expected to deliver the following: 
1. In-class and individual learning support
2. Individual counselling including supporting residential boarders
3. Educational Assessment
4. Small group work (social skills, etc)

A minimum of one hour's individual supervision plus a group supervision session will be offered every week.          

These roles will operate on a supervised Intern basis on a stipend of €7000 per annum plus full board accommodation in our dedicated hotel type boarding accommodation near to the School campus.  Additionally base relocation assistance will be provided.

Applicants should be possess the following experience and / or education back ground 
1. In the process of completing  or have completed an Honours degree in Psychology min 2.1 result from a UK accredited university
2. Accredited member of the British Psychological Society
3. Prior experience working with young people (in an educational or mental health setting) would be a distinct advantage.
4. Flexible approach to work and orientation towards living and working in a residential environment essential.  
5. Positive approach to working abroad and embracing cultural experience of working and living in Spain is essential.
