Re: The Cathartic thread - rant here!

I dislike my research component of the doctorate- I don't know why writing this up is so troublesome! It doesn't help that I'm procrastinating right now, eating chocolate biscuits and thinking about watching Cold Case on Amazon Prime! It's nice to acknowledge it!

Re: Acknowledging Difficulties

Haha "pratt"! Long time since I heard that word! If it's bothered me to this extent (where I've posted!) then I will bring it up in supervision. I think the final straw was feeling like I made a fool out of myself and being a bit vulnerable in front of the entire MDT, and reflecting on tha...

Re: Acknowledging Difficulties

That's not a nice situation. When you mentioned you didn't have a card did you specifically ask the forensic trainee to wait to let you in or did you, quite reasonably, assume that they would? In future you could set out a clear plan, "let's meet after this meeting finishes and go directly to ...

Acknowledging Difficulties

Hello, Apologies if this isn't in the right section of the forum. If it isn't, please move accordingly. I am hoping to get some advice or perspective on an issue that seems to be developing, before I internalise it for too long! This has required me to acknowledge the difficulty in the first instanc...

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

1. When to buy my Christmas presents? Thinking that I have infinite time- it's only the 10th of December... :bom: 2. I feel guilty for not doing something doctorate related this weekend. This weekend so far has been a battle to just relax! 3. The joke I made a year ago about jacking in psychology an...

Re: Unsuccessful application? Want a post-mortem of your form?

Hi Miriam,

Would it be possible for you to conduct a post-mortem of my application form? I know you're inundated at the moment, and I don't mind waiting- reallu really appreciate this offer considering unis don't provide any feedback (even if I am too late in asking!) Please let me know.

Thanks,

Re: What's your personality? The Myers-Briggs Questionnaire

The only way it's changed for me is the introversion/extroversion scale- I'm slowly becoming less and less introverted- don't know whether that's a good or bad thing.

Re: What's your personality? The Myers-Briggs Questionnaire

I didn't realise the test was that long. Here are my results: Introvert(56%) Sensing(1%) Feeling(50%) Judging(33%) You have moderate preference of Introversion over Extraversion (56%) You have marginal or no preference of Sensing over Intuition (1%) You have moderate preference of Feeling over Think...

What's your personality? The Myers-Briggs Questionnaire

Hello Ya'll! Just for fun, I thought we could all do the Myers-Briggs personality questionnaire, share results, and talk about whether we think it's accurate. If you'd like to do it, here's the link: http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/jtypes2.asp I suspect some of you may have already done this, bu...

Re: AP Interview Result-"offered post to person more experie

Frustrating, but it is a very common piece of feedback at assistant, trainee and qualified level. If you haven't made a good impression, its far easier for the recruiter to say "You didn't demonstrate X or Y". The lady then told me to go out and get more experience with young people (alth...

Re: AP Interview Result-"offered post to person more experie

It isn't a cryptic or dishonest thing to say as feedback. Its something I've said myself within the last week. I'd suggest it means that you were in their top 5 or 6 from your application, but you weren't the one that was best at interview, because someone with more experience was able to give bett...

AP Interview Result-"offered post to person more experience"

Hello everyone, So I recently attended an AP (Assistant Psychologist) interview. I received feedback today stating that I was unsuccessful. The company gave me some positive comments (that I knew about Autism, that I had researched the company well, that I knew the effect it would have on family mem...

Re: Assistant Psychologist Interview; No idea what to expect

So I had my interview today. It went alot better than I expected. The whole experience was a bit of a blurr; though I do remember stating I was nervous on a couple of times, and they were really accommodating. They all really grinned at my answers. So I came out feeling quite positive. They will let...

Re: Informal Visit Prior to AP Job Interview

So I emailed last week and there was no response. I then contacted them again (today) and I was told that if I arrive before my interview time they can show me around the workplace (doesn't that usually happen when you have the job? I asked to learn more about their department :? Maybe the two are s...

Re: Informal Visit Prior to AP Job Interview

Thank You Miriam!

I just wasn't entirely sure what the situation would be, so thank you for your time in clearing that up for me!

The worst they could say is "no" but I would like to know more information about the organisation than the website offers.

Thank You :)
