Volunteering abroad Post qualification

I'm currently half way through the doctorate and thinking about my career post qualification, I'd really like to spend some time abroad and travelling before settling into a career in the NHS. I've been thinking about opportunities in less economically prosperous countries or areas with high numbers...

Re: What experience did you have when you got on training?

I'm 27 going to Bath after my first application (still surprised!), also had an offer from UEL. Hopefully this reassures people that you don't necessarily need to go down the IAPT or AP route and that unique experience can be as useful. Graduated MSc conversion 2015 - Previous 1.5 years experience w...

They offer a place as soon as it's available, I was number 2 on the reserve list and was offered a place a few weeks ago via email. I've just accepted another place thro...

BAVQ-R

Does anyone regularly use the Revised Belief about voices questionnaire? I'm looking for information regarding the subtypes and what constitutes a high/low score ect, currently I use it to assess voice hearing work I do by doing pre and post measures to produce gain scores; but it would be really us...

Re: Pre-interview tests UEL/Salomons

Some of the questions during the research methods exams seemed to be on statistics we'd never covered during undergraduate level statistics.

I thought the non-verbal reasoning test was fairly straightforwards though which I was pleased about as I'd feared that would be my weakness.

GBC - BPS letter

I've joined the BPS as a graduate member and have recieved an email stating that I have GBC status, is this sufficient evidence of GBC for my application if I just copy it into a word document and upload it. I've included the email below for reference... Mr name MBPsS [baddress[/b] Membership number...

Re: Is anorexia a form of psychosis?

I guess I should have been clearer, I mean anorexia with anosognosia. I'm asking due to confusion around someone I know with personal experience of an eating disorder who feels the delusional like quality of this i.e. the lack of awareness of health issues being underweight ect means it constitutes ...

Books on psychosis

Can anyone recomend a good (up to date) book on psychosis? Preferably something that's quite broad looking at aetiology, outcomes and treatment options ect; although anything specific that's highly recomended is welcome.

Is IAPT a barrier to entry?

I was wondering if IAPT would be a barrier to entry for clinical psychology, whilst I know many individuals do use it to gain relevant experience is it frowned upon by those conducting the clinical application process for someone to shortly switch from IAPT to clin-psy? I've recently come to the end...
