Re: Whether to state 'high' 2:1 and if so, where?

From memory, each university may calculate their final result differently. This can be both your undergrad university, and also the university you're applying to for the Doctorate. I had to email my undergraduate university and ask them to send on an extra document/transcript that outlines each modu...

Re: Social work as a route into HI work?

I would look into the social work courses/training programme to see whether there's a requirement for you to work however many years within a service or as a social worker before leaving, without having to pay back any fees etc. It may also be worth bearing in mind that you'd be doing that training ...

Pre-Doctorate Ideas

Hi all :) I start the Clinical Doctorate at the end of September, but before this I have some time off. I have about 3 weeks in total, and would love to get ideas from people about things I can do during this time. Unfortunately I cannot really travel abroad due to other commitments, but would love ...

Re: Courses that value clinical experience more than academi

If you look at the BPS 'alternative handbook' for clinical training (just google it), it may be helpful to look through each of the courses and trainees backgrounds. It may also be worth looking at the leeds clearing house website and the different requirements for each course. With that in mind, it...

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

1) I'm nearing the end of a stressful/anxious/exhausting few months, and cannot wait! It's amazing to recognise the impact of this on your mind and energy levels... I feel like I could sleep for the whole of England at the moment 2) All I keep thinking about is planning my next weekend and what love...

Re: Leicester Shortlisting 2017

I received a letter through the post yesterday :) The screening tests for Leicester have slightly changed to last year and they can be done at home and within a week period... saves on having to take annual leave and make the journey!

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

1) that moment when you think you've made a decision... which you're happy about... and then you suddenly question and doubt yourself. My head literally feels like mush 2) I feel so much pressure at the moment to make life decisions, I'm struggling with just being happy with what I've got and what I...

Leaving a Trainee PWP Contract

Hi all, I just wanted to get people's experiences of being offered a Trainee PWP contract and then having to leave?? I know with most other contracts there's some degree of flexibility if circumstances changed which meant in leaving after a period, but wasn't sure how it worked with this role?? Are ...

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

Esuma... wow! Full time masters and full time job?!? I looked into this and decided that I wouldn't be able to hack it (and went for an evening course alongside full time work... which is enough in itself!) so I think you need to give yourself some credit. I don't know the ins and outs of your exper...

Re: Academic Reference

I'm currently in the same position! I'm trying to use a previous supervisor for when I completed research in an AP post, however he's quite hard to get hold of (although he has agreed).

Other than that I've tried to uni too, but also found this quite tricky to get hold of somebody.

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

1) I'm feeling slightly lost in terms of work and jobs at the moment, I'm not sure what direction to take and whether I'm truely happy in my job at the moment. The pay aspect is really nice and one thing keeping me here, however pay is only a small (yet necessary) part of working and I'd much rather...

DClinPsy 2017

So I've been extra keen and just checked the leeds clearing house website (which has had a big re-haul and looks more fancy!). This is now included about the funding part: ''Updated on 01 September 2016: These arrangements may be amended for candidates entering training in 2017, but this is unclear ...
