Re: UEL/Surrey/Salomans assessment day

The Surrey uni tests have gone ahead as planned and as far as I am aware the UEL ones have as well. The course will let you know if any testing arrangements have changed, otherwise TfL will have the latest. You should plan additional time for your journey.

Re: UEL assessment test

For clarity the writing task is Only for applicants to the Surrey course. Those applicants will be tested at UEL if they were also accepted by UEL, otherwise they will be tested at Surrey.

Re: Access to a car?

Hi everyone, I have been looking through the requirements of the courses, and the majority of them expect applicants to have a valid drivers license when they are interviewed. They also say that access to a car is essential, but I am not sure I understand at which point access to a car is needed - ...

Re: UEL/Surrey/Salomans assessment day

Hey, As you've not sat the Saloman's & Surrey tests before, please hold in mind that literal statistical knowledge actually comprises a small percentage of the overall test day! Plus, the statistical component aims to probe your ability to extract and understand applied data in context. I would the...

Re: University of Surrey 2020 Entry: Online Q&A

Re: University of Surrey 2020 Entry: Online Q&A

HWoody asked: " Do you have any advice for an older applicant / career changer, in terms of the type of experience you would find most desirable? I'm thinking about this from the perspective that older applicants don't always have as many years / opportunities to do lots of honorary / low paid place...

Do you have any preparation tips for the interviews? And also how are applicants selected for interview - is it based solely on scores on the tests? Thank you Hi Selection for the interview is based on test scores. We don't do not have specific preparation tips (although there is a good deal of inf...

Re: University of Surrey 2020 Entry: Online Q&A

HWoody asked: "Do you have an academic points scoring system (I think like at Bath University) where more points are allocated for a BSc first versus 2:1, and having an MSc distinction versus merit etc? If so how much weight is this given versus clinical experience?" I can confirm that at Surrey we ...

HWoody asked:

"My understanding is that Manchester have just introduced the GMAT as part of their assessment process. Is this something Surrey are also looking to introduce?"

We have no plans on introducing any tests of General Mental Ability as part of our selection process.

Re: University of Surrey 2020 Entry: Online Q&A

HWoody asked:

"How much weight do you put on applicants having publications?"

While having publications is one way of demonstrating academic / research ability, at Surrey we don't invite candidates to our written test day on any other basis than their meeting our minimum requirements.

Re: University of Surrey 2020 Entry: Online Q&A

HWoody asked: "On another thread Maven described the Surrey / Salomons / UEL courses are "perceived as more reflective/psychodynamic" you have any comments on this and do you agree that your course is most similar to Salomons and UEL's?" At Surrey we focus on two therapeutic models - cognitive behav...

Re: University of Surrey 2020 Entry: Online Q&A

Hello, Thank you for this opportunity. My question is: how do you rate a candidate's academic ability? What is the proportional weight given to school, undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications? Thank you. Hi We require all applicants to have the GBC either via a first degree in psychology (2:1...
