Negative interview feedback on self awareness & reflexivity

I think it's really tough to hear something when it doesn't sit right with how you see yourself, and it can be so easy to become defensive. I think even the fact that you're reflecting on your learnt interview style from previous experience and how this might be impacting on your interview style sho...

Been offered 2 assistant psych posts......which one??

Agree with posts above. I'd go with the NHS one. My last assistant job sounded really similar to that and I learnt so much whilst feeling really well supported! (I had been in the private sector before and was definitely working outside my competence). Good luck whichever one you go for! Sent from m...

BABCP CBT accreditation during DClinPsy

There is also an argument that one of our drawbacks is that we are currently unable to supervise IAPT CBT therapists for their CBT work and therefore in some settings, may struggle to demonstrate our worth over another professional who IS able to offer this supervision. I also agree with Maven and t...

Re: Did you study a Masters?

Personally I didn't do a masters, but I think around 2/3 of my cohort did. I think masters courses tend to be a lot more clinically relevant than undergraduate degrees and I'm sure you'll learn a lot that you will find interesting. It will also give you a good foundation in research (which you could...

Re: course shortlisting dates 2017

Does anybody have any news about Liverpool or know when they would let people know? I've got two reds, one reserve list and cannot wait to hear from Liverpool!! Thanks! :alien: Unfortunately Liverpool are only letting people know on Friday - I know it's hard waiting. I wish there was a system where...

Dissertation idea - help!

I agree with others here and am slightly confused about the study design if it were to have 4 groups as your tutor suggests. What would be your dependent variable if you went down this route? With the two group approach your DV would be scores on scales of anxiety/depression. With your IV being whet...

course shortlisting dates 2017

Liverpool is currently having its shortlisting meetings, which finish on 7th March so it should be sometime after that (owing a few days for admin time etc).

Any success for tax refund while training?

Not sure where you've got that from BlueCat but it's certainly not my experience of the process. We all applied under the widening access scheme, got letters to say we were eligible for the scheme from HMRC and that payroll would issue our refund. Having spoke to HMRC and payroll about it the only c...

Re: Any success for tax refund while training?

Not sure where that information has come from as there is no change in the scheme after 2013 (I know, as my whole cohort have received a refund, as have the two years below me). The only change is that payroll process these payments now, rather than HMRC. However the advice from HMRC at the moment s...

Any success for tax refund while training?

I've just checked and it's on the post-2013 group, but it would apply to anyone from what it says.

Any success for tax refund while training?

I understand it is an official brief from HMRC sent to all payroll/ESR teams in the country. The person that posted it works as admin on one of the teams. There's some discussion on the Facebook group about parts of the information that are false (e.g. That we work independently, that the academic s...

Re: Any success for tax refund while training?

There's been a post on the widening access facebook group today that may have thrown a further spanner in the works. I've copied it in for people that may not have seen it. HMRC have just done a case review on trainee clinical psychology courses and deemed it ineligible for tax and NI refunds. Has a...

Miriam, I couldn't agree more with everything you've said. Thanks so much for articulating it so well and succinctly in that blog. Radical change is definitely needed! Will respond to their survey now and share amongst colleagues.

Staffordshire

I have a friend that got on that course this year and commutes from south Manchester. It sounds like a lengthy commute but she's doing it and managing! About 90mins each way in traffic I think. Hope that helps!
