Re: No Doctorate - What's the plan B?

Hi Alex, There's a nice long list of Plan B options in the wiki section here: https://www.clinpsy.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=251 Maybe have a think about what parts of clinical psychology particularly appeal to you and read more into the options that match up? Health psychologists and cou...

Re: Exeter and Conversion Courses

Exeter views your conversion mark in place of your non-psych undergraduate mark.

Academic Reference

Hi all, I'm starting to plan ahead a bit for applications opening and have asked a tutor on my conversion MSc to be my reference. They've asked me to send over a brief email of anything I want them to consider when writing it, especially as this year the course has primarily taken the form of distan...

Re: Exeter and Conversion Courses

As an update to this, I'm still not really any wiser about Exeter, but it's prompted me to make a spreadsheet of how the various courses weight conversions during selection. It will probably need updating come Sept, but if anyone wants to have a look or can add anything just let me know. It's a rou...

Re: Exeter and Conversion Courses

I'm not sure if this helps at all, but I came through the conversion route (2:1 English Lit, Merit in conversion diploma) and I had an interview with Exeter last year (unsuccessful) but didn't get one this year, but I guess it shows they do accept it. They have been using the tests too, so I'm not ...

Re: Experience & GBC accreditation

Hi Emily! In terms of GBC, I'm in the same boat as you, finishing up a conversion and getting confirmation of GBC in Oct. I personally am planning to apply this year, and as you said it depends which courses you want to apply to. So just have a good look at the course page on Clearing House and the ...

Re: My undergrad degree & past are difficult to explain!

I would add that its worth carefully considering where you apply, some courses don't specify any required grades, others will view your conversion simply as a GBC tickbox and don't consider the grade achieved, instead asking for a specific undergrad grade, and others will use your conversion in plac...

Re: Youtube videos for DClinPsy pathways

I have watched the videos by Sharon B Psych and ClinicalPsychCommunity recently, it's been interesting to watch someone on their first application and someone on their sixth both be successful this year and the different approaches they've each taken - might be worth a look

Re: Where are all the nerds at?

I'd class myself as a nerd of a slight different ilk! Less manga/anime (though I do really love the Ghibli films), more D&D & fantasy novels. I definitely wouldn't say those interests are incredibly rare in the psychologists/therapists I've worked with either, you're in good company. Ah fin...

Exeter and Conversion Courses

This is possibly a slightly mistimed post as everyone's embroiled in places and reserve lists rather than applications, but I'm hoping someone can help me out with this one. Does anyone know how Exeter judges conversion courses? They are not mentioned anywhere I can find on Clearing House or Exeter'...
