Re: Fake Counsellors and Psychologists

I’m only speaking as someone who has suffered from Anorexia Nervosa and been through the NHS treatment pathway (impatient, and residential) for over 10 years. Re: Mature student considering clinical/counselling psychology

I really appreciate your post. I had reservations about doing counselling psychology exactly for the reasons you state, it’s a huge relief to hear my worries are realistic. I think I will take the UKCP route. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Re: No Doctorate - What's the plan B?

You could try the counselling psychology doctorate route? It’s more humanistic, person centered therapy (which actually I think is better than the clinical) but I think the main reason more people don’t do this course is because it is self funded :?

Re: Working in mental health after experiencing abuse/trauma

When a frog is placed directly in boiling water it will jump straight out. When a frog is placed in room temperature water and slowly heated up to boiling temp it won’t jump out and will end up being boiled alive. This is how most abuse occurs. Anyone else find this movement fascinating? Their analysis of research is very insightful. I find it all quite refreshing tbh. What are everyone else’s thoughts?

Re: Fake Counsellors and Psychologists

To be honest some of the best “therapy” I have ever received is from people that have been through similar experiences as myself. That’s why group therapy works so well, and AA meetings etc. You have to remember that “qualified” helping people with degrees are a relatively new concept in the grand s...

Re: Discontinued Counselling Psychology Doctorates???

Really? 15 students each paying £10,000 a year…£150,000…that’s at least 2 full time tutors 🤨

Discontinued Counselling Psychology Doctorates???

I've noticed quite a few unis are dropping the "Counselling Psychology" doctorate. Surrey, Regents, Southampton have all dropped it in the past year.....it is really odd. I thought it would be quite a lucrative income for the unis?? Anyone any ideas why? I'm worried they know something I d...
