Re: Power-Threat-Meaning Framework - you must read this!
They definitely could have picked a better overall title... if you are going to take on the word 'diagnosis', having something not easily and quickly learnable and recognisable to the general public was a poor choice ! :) That odd issue aside, I agree that it isn't anything revolutionary for those a...

Re: 3rd wave therapies
I think some 3rd wave therapies like Mindfulness, DBT etc have been fairly easily integrated, others are still fighting for ground. I have to say that personally I generally find the notion of the different therapy 'waves' rather over played and over stated. I tend to think most therapies are just a...

How do you figure it doesn't offer a cheaper alternative hollyhock? The Bristol practical route is £2000 vs currently £5500 to take that component on via the BPS independent route? The Glasgow course for the Knowledge component is currently significantly cheaper than the Bristol Knowledge course due...

Re: Do you introduce yourself as a Dr?
#mynameis The Hello my name is... campaign was never a campaign for or against using the Doctor title, it was a recognition that many professionals do not bother to introduce themselves at all before treating a patient. As to the original question, I think it has always depended on the setting and ...

...Or you could join, volunteer to be part of it and be directly involved in the decision making. They are going to need all the help they can get. Or they could begin the organisation from the starting point that it's target audience overwhelmingly supported instead of forging an entirely new orga...

Re: Campaign for a Royal College of Psychologists
What is presently irritating me about the google group discussions about RC status is that anyone asking what happened and why is seemingly met with cries on 'why quibble over what we call ourselves now, we need to focus on the organisation'. That is an easy position to take when your choice of orga...

Re: Difficult Professional Relationship...
I agree with whats been said so far, I also wonder whether the easiest route is discussing with the CP in question and asking them to politely explain to the psychiatrist that it would be best for you to handle all things related to this case now?

Re: WAIS prorating?
That said I have a vague memory that you can calculate a FSIQ on 9 subtests somewhere in the manual... but I'd need the manual and possibly technical manual to know how reliable that is and what circumstances it is appropriate for..

Re: Campaign for a Royal College of Psychologists
There was overwhelming support for applying for RC status when this began, in fact it is how much of the interest was generated. I am pleased that the break away is finally happening, but I am incredibly annoyed that a group of people at the top of this have made a decision amongst themselves to not...

Re: WAIS prorating?
Processing speed can't be prorated because it is only comprised of two subtests, you would need a substitute subtest (i.e. cancellation). You can just calculate GAI and report on the working memory and coding seperately, but there is a question of whether this is in the best interests of testing and...

Re: Can a trainee psychologist works part time in MH setting
I don't think there is any legal reason you could not do this, providing you declared it with the trust. It would be an extremely heavy workload to take on and leave you with next to no time for a personal life or to rest and relax, but theoretically it would be possible.

I've known a fair few artists start on sites like Etsy to begin selling and get a sense of the interest of others. I quite like browsing it for people new to art and selling art
