Re: SCID

I've had to train on the SCID for my thesis and as far as I'm aware they're copyrighted and only available if you've bought the assessment. What are you planning to use it for? I'm guessing that given the current climate etc there'd be little chance of whoever you're working for purchasing it, but i...

Re: Breivik Trial

Yes KeepCalm I think you're right, re-reading the original post Will was probably wanting to get at thoughts that might give some psychological understanding of the man himself. To be honest I read the article and thought "ooh that's relevant to something I saw on ClinPsy" without thinking to actual...

Re: Current issues in learning disabilities?

I'd maybe think about things to do with the recent scandal at Winterbourne View highlighted by the Panorama investigation- e.g. what processes might lead to such systemic abuse becoming the norm, and how might a Clinical Psychologist be able to work with and influence a system to ensure that nothing...

Re: Lancaster

Hi Amy, ta for your friend request- I've added you and also added you to the group. For anyone who's interested, those of us who're in the group are trying to arrange a time for a meet-up of some kind in August before the course starts, so if you're up for it come and join the Fbook group and let us...

Re: When will the uncertainty end!

I'd like to second what other people have said about the value of having this debate in the general section of the forum. I'm starting training in September and have found this an interesting discussion about the reality of what might await at the end of it. No matter what stage of the journey you'r...

Re: Lancaster

Hi all- just to let people know, if you fancy joining the Facebook group (which is now a buzzing hive of activity I might add), then search for "Lancs Trainees 2011" on facebook and you should be able to find it. Come join the party and say hello to your fellow trainees-to-be!

Re: Lancaster

Ooh, my word this thread seems to have grown since the weekend! Lovely to see more people on here. The Lancs facebook group currently stands at 5 people (Hannah I just accepted your friend request and added you to the group), everyone who's not yet a member do feel free to add myself or anyone else ...

Re: Lancaster

ReedC - love the relish! Few knives and forks and we'll be able to make a mini-Sheffield in Lancaster. I'm living in Crookes at the moment and working in Chesterfield. How about you? Did the facebook group go ahead? Ooh I'm sure Lancs uni could do with a Henderson's Appreciation Society being set u...

Re: Lancaster

My OH is from Sheffield and whenever she goes back she returns with a bag full of the stuff - I looooove it! She even has a Henderson's Relish t-shirt that says "Strong and Northern" on the front. Just thought I'd share the Henderson's love! Congrats on your course places too :D Thanks Toria, congr...

Re: Lancaster

I noticed a few of you are going to be based in Manchester? I'm based in Sheffield at the moment Hi Amy- good to hear there'll be another Sheffielder on the course! I'm planning on packing a suitcase of Henderson's Relish to take with me to Manc for when I start to miss the lovely Steel City. Have ...

Re: Lancaster

I'm jealous of all your time off Hannah, that sounds like a really nice break! In some ways I wish the course started a little later just to give a bit more chance for some time off, but then it's exciting to be starting so soon as well. I may have to take you up on your offer of advice as to where ...

Re: Lancaster

Hi wilsonhmn- nice to see another member of the new cohort on here! Loula, I think I remember you from the interview, and you mentioning that it'd been hard waiting last year and you wouldn't recommend staying in that room (though it all seems like an absolute age ago now!)- thanks for the advice, i...
