Re: Staffs/Keele 2013

Hey Pippa, I had a feeling you'd get a place! I was one of the trainees doing the meet and greet......If I remember correctly you left the interviews smiling....which is always a good sign! Once on the course you have a choice of employment by South Staffs or North Staffs....and numbers permitting m...

Re: The Progress Thread for 2013 Applications

It's been very quiet this year on the Staffs / Keele course! We went a bit bonkers on here in previous years....evidently our new cohort are a bit more reserved and sophisticated! :D

Re: Shropshire-Staffs 2013

Hello, I'm pretty sure there are some discussions about the Staffs course....I remember some from when I applied a couple of years ago. The ethos of the course is aligned to a critical psychology / social constructionist perspective. Maybe read Guy Holmes "Psychology in the real world" or ...

Re: Staffs 2012

Hey peeps.....congratulations and welcome to Staffs and Keele! Soph, I guess your decision about where to live will be guided by which trust you will be employed by. I can't remember when we got it last year, but you should get an options form soon, asking if your preference is for North Staffs or S...

Re: Progress thread for Clinical Psychology applications 201

Re: Keele and Staffs I'm surprised that letters were through before the status was updated at the clearing house? There was an issue last year whereby the course updated the status at their end but it didn't update at the clearing house. Looks loke it may have happened again... Might be worth checki...

Re: Funding for the Clinical Doctorate Course

The ten Strategic Health Authorities in England and Wales, who currently provide the funding for Clinical Psychology Training, will be disbanded as part of the changes driven by the Health and Social Care Act and will be gone in 2013. Presumably, with the demise of the SHA's it will be necessary to ...

Re: Completing PhD before starting training

It really depends what stage you are at with the PhD and how close you are to submitting. Yes, I know of several people who have have submitted prior to starting training and have had their viva and corrections early on in their first year of training. However, I've also heard that some courses refu...

Re: Continuing research whilst doing the clinical doctorate.

Do you mean carrying on with a PhD while doing clinical training? I left my PhD unfinished to take up a clinical training place.....which was a shame but I had limited funding for the PhD and was working two part-time positions to support myself and trying to study part-time too....which was a diffi...

Re: National short listing screening procedure

I'm not really enamoured by the idea of national short listing procedures. I think if this was introduced then we would become a more homogenous bunch than we already are!

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

1) For the next two days I am gonna pull marathon sessions in the library. I wanna finish up all the little niggling pieces of work / reports / literature search that I have left before I finish! 2) Then off to Bangor at the weekend to see some old friends, see some old castles and travel on some ol...
