Re: Confused psychology graduate- masters or work experience

Hi Rose, I thought I would offer my two pence but I'm not sure how helpful it will be! I started a masters straight after graduation and I worked part time both as a support worker/HCA alongside the masters and then later as an Assistant Psychologist. Regarding the masters, I would advise you to do ...

Re: Should I be concerned?

I agree with AnalyseThis, HR processes are SLOW!!! I had an interview for a bank HCA in April this year and was invited for trust induction on the 7th November. By that time, I'd been offered an AP role! I also wouldn't recommend relocating before you have an unconditional offer in writing i.e. CRB ...

Re: Stuck in limbo land... help?!

Hi Rebecca, Just wondering, is there another psychology department in your hospital at all? Perhaps you could arrange to do one day a week in that department to get some experience of the work over there? One of the AP's where I used to volunteer worked 4 days a week in our service, (adult) and then...

Re: NHS employment checks

Hii, I have a similar problem to the Noodle, I've been offered a job subject to references, and they also require references from the last three years. I wrongly thought that as I graduated last year they would want a reference from my Uni and employers since graduating. However, as I have been doin...

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

1. Got a HORRIBLE cold - want to stay in bed and not go to work tomorrow! 2. AP Posts - I've applied for loads, received loads of rejections and then get offered two at once! :D 2. I'm actually going to be an assistant psych! 3. Really wish it was possible to do both at once, they s...

Re: AP interview (30 minutes long)

Hi! I had an assistant interview where they only asked me 4 questions! I think I was expected to expand etc... Lets just say I don't think the interview lasted 30 mins... I wholeheartedly agree with what Ell has said, writing down answers to possible questions has always helped me to expand. ...

Re: What to Expect on AP Assesment Days?

CONGRATULATIONS :D :D Thats great! Good luck with the new job & relocation :) (I would have cried too ) And no worries, I was mostly reassured & only a tiny bit confused, and I like to think I have some common sense so fingers crossed haha. I'll let you know, but not toooo hopeful, I know of qu...

Re: What to Expect on AP Assesment Days?

Hi Nat89, Thanks so much for your reply that was really helpful - feeling reassured :) I was about to start reading all of the heavy policies and legislation but I rarely ever remember what I've read during the interview so it's reassuring to hear they may not be that necessary..I think I will still...

What to Expect on AP Assesment Days?

Hi guys, I have done a search but couldn't find what I was looking for, but feel free to redirect me if necessary. I've been invited for an "assessment day" for an assistant psycholoist post and am not sure what to prepare for and was just hoping someone will be able to shed some light and give me a...

Re: Prison Psychology Assistant Interview

Hi YamYam, I can understand your frustration with not getting feedback, I had an AP interview recently and only got voicemail feedback and have been unsuccessful in getting through to anyone when calling :( I can only say keep trying! I wanted to ask what your assessment day was like, as I have one ...
