Paper Request
Hi all I've been trying to get this article in various places to no avail, and I've been told that it is only available to a handful of London Universities (can't say which unfortunately!) but if anyone can access the full article please could you send me a message, it's the last one on my systemati...

Re: Manchester 2016
Hello 2016 trainees!! Congrats on your wonderful achievement! I am in the current first year and we just got sent a list of your names as we do a buddy system, so you have one of us to ask all your burning questions like what do I need to do before I start? Answer: rest. You have worked hard to get ...

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .
1. Countdown to finishing work is on! 5 days, 5 case studies to write up, letters to send out to interview participants, projects to get in order, handover pack to make, goodbye meals, must remember to pick up a card at some point... 2. Panicking about the house I'm buying as my solicitor can only s...

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .
1. Being the only social researcher in my organisation right now is a little scary, my seniors are both on leave so all big decisions are coming to me!! I can handle it, its just an odd situation to be in. 2. Especially as I have only 2 weeks left at work! Trying to get all projects in a reasonable ...

Re: 2016 Application process
there is absolutely no advantage to submitting early You are forgetting the wine discount! One of the threads this last time round, pointed out that the £10 saving on admin fees can be put towards wine... or you know a healthy alternative... In seriousness to actually respond to the OP, information...

Re: Low/Mid/High 2:1
I'd dare say there isn't a consistent scale that all of the course centres use, so it would likely be best to check with the ones who specify mid or high as to what they mean by that. Just to add into the conversation that is going on at the moment, I ended up with a 2:1 graded as 62 on the transcri...

Reviewing the Layard plan?
Hi all This is a bit strange as I am coming at this issue from an economic and occupational perspective rather than psychological, purely due to the people asking the questions, but in the Layard report of 2006 he states it is a 7 year plan, and that in 2013 the situation should look very different ...

3. Less than 2 weeks of fasting to go - wooo! I miss coffee. And Coke. And food. As someone voluntarily fasting on the 5:2, I cannot imagine getting through the day without even having a drink. I must get through about 2 litres of water on my fasting days!! Starting it up again after 2 weeks off du...

Re: Backing out of a houseshare
I agree with MarkM, tell the person asap so they can perhaps contact one of the people they turned away. If they want a reason you have plenty. You are under no obligation to stay somewhere until you have signed a contract and you haven't handed any money over yet so you are within your rights to ch...

Re: Which doctorates don't have a stats exam to get in
Yes, and while there is some stats taught on the courses, there's no guarantee it will be in depth or of good quality. My favourite line for any stats question, explain what you already know then say "but I would go back to text books or consult a statistician to check my methods!" Based ...
