Re: Advice on someone with no clinical experience!

So...five years, five years and six months later from this post and I made it! I considered being a HI CBT therapist or couple psychodynamic psychotherapist, and then I decided on doing the counseling doctorate if the clinical did not work out for me. This was going to be my second to last year and ...

Re: Selection tests for Coventry/Leicester/Staffordshire

Does anyone know what Leicester are doing this year? I assumed it would be verbal and numerical reasoning but since they have a specific date I’m wondering if they’ve changed too this year? They have indeed changed - I don't know the detail of their tests this year though I'm afraid. You seem very ...

Re: Work/Study work advice needed

Try it and see? If they think you are a good worker and you later need a bit of time off for study you can negotiate. Thanks so much Miriam. I have decided to take the job and asked my course leader if I can defer the 2nd part of my course to the next academic year (Is this even possible?). However...

Work/Study work advice needed

Hey guys, I just got a job after forever, but then I found out that not only does it pay really low (£7 ph), but it is 40.5 hours a week, permanent. I am going to be doing my 2nd year of my masters, so I am questioning whether that would be too much. I really want to get a high merit or distinction....

I love working with children so that will be great. I hope it is not too late. Can you give me more information?

Re: Advice on someone with no clinical experience!

Guys, thank you so much for the advice. However, I did not say things with my parents was my only motivation for being a CP but partly (30%). My passion for CP originated from what happened in my childhood. I went through all sorts of abuse and negative events, and I am grateful that I am a somewhat...

Re: Advice on someone with no clinical experience!

I don't believe in blind encouragement. It might feel very supportive and nice for you to all say "come on, you can do it" to everyone all the time, but the truth is not everyone can do everything that they would like to. We all need to be realistic about what is possible and set aims that challeng...

Re: Advice on someone with no clinical experience!

A 2:2 and a pass at your conversion (unless it was pass/fail and you can show a very high mark within the pass category) is going to mean most doors are shut for clinical, so this is the number one place to target your efforts. You will also need to get experience, preferably in the UK. But before ...

Re: Advice on someone with no clinical experience!

Could you tell us a little bit more about your qualifications? You mentioned the NVQ, but what other qualifications do you have? Do you have a psychology degree or conversion? That might sound like a silly question, but I have had people ask about doing clinical who do not even realise you need thi...

Advice on someone with no clinical experience!

Hello, As the topic states, I have zero clinical experience. I have been applying for support/personal assistant jobs working with people with learning disabilities or special needs. I have a pre-NVQ2 already in working with vulnerable adults, and in health and social care. I plan to start doing the...
