Re: When A Promotion Might Actually Be A Demotion...

Geishawife: Thank you! It's to do with the liability insurance policy after we changed the job description to include clinical tasks and remove a few others; not really a big deal to me as long as the title confers the managerial side of things in some sense. Bluecat: Thanks for your input :D Clinic...

Re: When A Promotion Might Actually Be A Demotion...

Just as an update....I've decided to go with the Deputy Manager role as I think the experience will be vital and I've been teasing out the clinical aspects of the role. My remaining issue now is that the Deputy Manager job in its current form has now been adapted to include some of my current clinic...

Re: When A Promotion Might Actually Be A Demotion...

Thanks for your replies :D - I have asked whether they'll consider an 80/20 of responsibilities and that I am able to continue with at least some of the individual sessions, groupwork sessions, or assessment report compiling - at least some clinical contact is my aim. Will update tomorrow but thanks...

Re: When A Promotion Might Actually Be A Demotion...

Hi eponymous, thanks very much for your reply! I suppose the job has its relevance and the application process depends quite heavily on your interpretations of your experience, what you've learned, and skills you've developed as opposed to a checklist of competencies. I've been in my role for just u...

When A Promotion Might Actually Be A Demotion...

Hi All, Just after some thoughts really on an interesting proposal I am currently weighing up. I've been an Assistant Psychologist at a private therapeutic residential home in the North East for around 15 months, having previously been employed as a Support Worker by the same company. I've just been...

Re: changing jobs?

I also think it might be worth sticking it out for at least the first 6months too since its your first role in the UK. Although if you really aren't happy you could always look for other roles at the same time. You may not feel competent now, but perhaps with time you will and find that there are mo...

Re: changing jobs?

When you were hired, did you make it clear that you wanted or expected to be involved in more clinical aspects of the job than the 'babysitting'? Perhaps as you have only been there a month they want to get to know you before involving you in more in-depth works with the client base? It would be goo...

Re: The Great Big Progress Thread for 2015

Letter from Plymouth arrived today, I am now: Exeter Cardiff Bath Plymouth Not particularly surprised. Most difficult thing about the Plymouth rejection was that it was a very small envelope, so I knew before I even opened it. Overall, I am not particularly surprised that I didn't receive any interv...

I think we should! No applications necessary this time though!

All of the stories of individuals applying for the fourth or fifth time etc. will keep me motivated for next year

Re: The Great Big Progress Thread for 2015

How bad is it that I'm considering "withdrawing" on the Clearing House website from the two courses that I've been rejected for?

Re: The Great Big Progress Thread for 2015

First response from my four courses (in order of preference): Exeter Cardiff Bath Plymouth Not particularly surprised or disappointed by that. As a first time applicant with limited research experience (MSc Neuropsychology, 18m as a care worker, 6m as a research assistant, and 10m as an Assistant P...
