Re: 2018 Doctorate Application Progress thread

Birmingham Bath Cov & Warwick Exeter Well done! Was it via email?...I'm currently awaiting the outcome  Thanks! I interviewed last year, and was horrendously under-prepared so it was an awful experience... here's hoping my second chance will go a bit better. They emailed me a few minutes ago...

Re: Application to both PWP and DClinPsych training...

I would look very carefully at your PWP contract - mine had a clause that I was required to stay in post 6 months after qualifying or I would have to pay fees back. Other contracts also have a requirement to pay fees back if you don't complete the course. I've never seen this tested in reality, but ...

Re: 2018 Doctorate Application Progress thread

2nd time applying, after a very under-prepared attempt last year that resulted in 3 interviews, 2 justified rejections, and one agonisingly near miss as 1st reserve.

Bath
Birmingham
Coventry
Exeter

Good luck everyone!

Re: Staffordshire Selection Test 2018

It's not a time saver really... and I should know. However it is evidence based which is why it makes sense. Fair enough, as I said, just my cynical side coming out! Good to be corrected. This is not an either/or. Using these tests allows you to get what you term "academic and intellectual high-fly...

Re: Staffordshire Selection Test 2018

I am a bit cynical in thinking that a lot of universities might take them up as a short-listing time-saver, but equally I can see the merits of having the test. There is a conflict it seems about whether clinical psychology should just be for the academic and intellectual high-flyers (who would gene...

Oh I knew Exeter were considering a short-listing test, but hadn't seen their website update on this. Does anyone know the dates for it yet?

Re: Birmingham Written Test

I'd be interested in a past paper discussion too. Weekend day times or weekday evenings (except the 14th) would be good for me. I got shortlisted last year, but have had a whole year without using stats, so need to brush up a bit!

Site hacked?

Hi Every time I click on this forum, I get a pop up saying "This website tries to use your browser as a blockchain currency miner. It can create considerable CPU load. Allow?" Read on the BBC today that some sites have been hacked to do this, so just wanted to flag it up with the site admins in case...

Re: The Great Big Progress Thread for 2017 entry DClinPsy

So I finish as #1 reserve for Bath. Hard to quieten the "if I'd just said one more thing in that interview" mindset :(

Here's to one more year of low-paid hedonism, before seeing you all again n 2018! Over and out.

Re: Applying for clinical while doing HI

The main issue is that the IAPT courses don't particularly like you doing it - they explicitly ask in a lot of interviews what your 5 year plan is. I did my PWP training last year, and we were told they would not write us references until we had finished the course and we also had in our contract a ...

Re: The Great Big Progress Thread for 2017 entry DClinPsy

Exeter Birmingham Cardiff Bath - 6th reserve I'm very glad I put myself through this, I've learned a lot about myself and the process. It's disappointing to have had 3 interviews and no offers, but I could not have done any better this year. Now knowing how hard other people worked for their places...

Does anyone know when Cardiff might let us know? They told us by 30th May, but I am hoping it might be a bit earlier than that.

Re: Reserve List Updates Thread

Currently 7th on reserve list for a place at Bath and 2nd on (one of four) reserve list(s) for interview at IoP and told that it is possible to be called on the morning of this week's interview days. Feeling very much in reserve list-induced emotional limbo... I know how you feel - I'm the same. On...
