Re: The Great Big Progress Thread for 2016

Hi Moony - Sure, as long as your bribe includes unlimited personal training from Jessie Pavelka, a liftime supply of Green & Black's chocolate (which indicates why I need personal training!), an alternative career option and an apricot cockapoo puppy thrown in for good measure!! Will be keeping my ...

Re: The Great Big Progress Thread for 2016

Surrey Bath IoPPN South Wales What an emotional roller coaster this process is! Just when despair followed from my first red I get a green so want to encourage all those still waiting not to give up hope. God luck everyone :o) Don't suppose you'd take a bribe for that interview place. ;)

Re: The Great Big Progress Thread for 2016

Just received an email.

Not convinced the list will move much, but here's hoping it does and that I'm near the top of the list. Eeeek. Will be a bit of a mad dash across country to get to Bath from London, but should it come to it I'll run there if I have to.

Re: The Great Big Progress Thread for 2016

Thanks, I weirdly wasn't so bothered at first but the upset is sinking in now. My gut feeling was to apply elsewhere this year (2 previous rejections from UCL) but Iwas persuaded to give it a go, and now regretting my decision!! Wait to hear back from the other three is going to be extra nerve-wrack...

Re: The Great Big Progress Thread for 2016

I was really hoping to get some news from UCL today. The waiting is killing me. I applied to courses which traditionally get back with offers of interview a little later in the process. Irony is I was teaching a class on relaxation and stress management this morning. Time to try and practice what I ...

Re: The Great Big Progress Thread for 2016

From memory, and dates, I'm pretty sure that UCL will let us know next week. Pure speculation, but given previous timelines, that's what I'm thinking. Last year was a bit strange, I got a rejection email at about 7am on a Monday morning, but those selected for interview got letters a day or two afte...

Re: Anyone else feel stupid after all these shortlisting tes

My understanding is for UEL - you need to score in the top 75th percentile. Does anyone know if that is the case for each of the three tests. So If I came in the bottom 25th percentile for one of them, does that mean that my application wouldn't be considered? Or do they look at test scores in conju...

Re: Anyone else feel stupid after all these shortlisting tes

I have never felt like more of a dunce than I did at the end of the last UEL test (Raven's progressive Matrices?). I can see why it might be useful, but also hope that they don't rely to heavily on it as part of the application process. It's the first time I've ever run out of time in a test, I stil...

Re: UEL Selection tests

How is pattern recognition supposed to determine who'll make a good trainee Flexibility of thinking? Performance under pressure? Adaptability? I know, I was being annoyed and irrational because I hadn't done very well. I can see the value of using it, it just frustrates me that there's a need for i...

Re: UEL Selection tests

Sweet Jesus, wish I hadn't received test number 3. That was impossible! I didn't even finish before the timer ran out. Suspect I may have just blown my chances at a UEL interview.

Feeling a little jaded and sceptical. How is pattern recognition supposed to determine who'll make a good trainee?!
