Re: Talking about complex ideas in simple words
This would be a wonderful resource for creating literature to work with children and people with learning difficulties/disabilities!

Re: Talking about complex ideas in simple words
Thesis: I looked in to the question of whether or not people with one type of thing growing in their brain have the same feeling and problems as people with other types. The people I worked with often get ignored, where as other people with something growing in their brain get the help they need. It...

Re: DCP SURVEY-addressing the issues with the BPS (open to n
I gave them my views yesterday. I find it infuriating that these same issues are surveyed again and again and again with no change made. I'm left with absolutely no faith that the BPS/DCP can create an internal system that would represent in the way I would hope. Back to hoping a seperate practition...

Re: Safeguarding Children
If the child has demonstrated Gillick competency and says they do not want to disclose the abuse to their parents, you need to consider whether withholding that information from the parents has any effect on the risks posed to the child. For example, if the abuser was actually mum's partner - who l...

Re: Unite or Unison?
Thanks BenJMan. I also have some anecdotal experience and the opposite was reported!? that the Unite rep was barely contactable and they offered no support. This was in two different areas. At the same time this could just be some poor reps and i know that's not generalisable. I wish i didn't have ...

Re: Unite or Unison?
I've never had personal cause to use either, but from an anecdotal (from other people) point of view, I haven't heard good things about Unison, but I have about Unite. That paired with their more specialist understanding of psychologists makes me stay with them over others.

Re: Lancaster Course - help please!?
Don't believe the people who say all you do is make animal sculptures out of tin foil. It certainly wasn't all we did. On a serious note, each course structures itself differently and has different priorities, Lancaster is well known for it's reflective, applicable clinical skills stance over a mor...

Re: Any success for tax refund while training?
The media have already got it..which way it's spun is probably up for grabs.
NHS professionals grabbing money or HMRC taking tax they never should have done. From what I can see of the shows online clips it's a bit sensationalist but generally promoting stories about people struggling

Nope, you only need an accredited degree, you do not need to be a BPS member. Eligibility is what matters

Re: Transference frequency?
Hrm.. I think one of the problems you will have answering this question is that 'transference' is such a difficult concept to pin down, and particularly to measure, as with many psychoanalytic concepts. Something one therapist classes as transference may not be the same as another, equally something...

Re: HCPC time?
Do take the time to go over and over and over the forms and checklists of things to send. They are notorious nitpickers for slight errors on forms etc, well worth taking the extra time to re-check everything rather than having it sent back.
