Spine point for starting Hi training when already Band6 PWP?

Would anyone be able to answer the question...if you are already a Band 6 senior PWP and a few points up the spine - do you drop back to the bottom of Band 6 when starting one of the fixed term Hi trainee places in a new Service or do you remain with your current point and increment date?

Thank you..

Re: PWP funding???

Seems OK for 2016/2017. I don't think it's yet clear what will happen for 2017/2018?

Re: Escaping IAPT

I suppose it depends where you are in the country, in the South East of England where I am, many have found work in specialist services or private services. Just look regularly on the BABCP jobs page and speak to all the main agencies that provide locum staff and you'll hear what's out there. What i...

Privatised IAPT half the salary? Or error in ad?

Friend up in the North West just pointed out a hi job advertised in an IAPT service tendered out to virgin healthcare at salary of £17,438 - £20,482

That starting salary is lower than a band 4. Perhaps these are 0.5wte jobs?

Re: PWP or MA in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy

Employment is difficult these days with counselling and psychotherapy qualifications. Most IAPT services I come across seem to fill vacancies for the non-CBT posts with psychologists and then offer them the top up training in DIT, IPT or CfD to make them IAPT compliant. You see a few advertising for...

Re: Current GMHW Training?

I met GMHWs from that Trust and there seemed no fundamental difference with PWPS in the work they did, the fundamental difference was not attending a uni course and not working towards a formal qualification. Services can get a small, limited number of trainees that are centrally funded, if they wan...

Re: Current GMHW Training?

I don't think you'll find any difference between what you are doing and what the trainee PWPs are doing, you may even find that your clinical contact targets are higher than those of the trainee PWPs as you will be working on their uni day. It means though that if you are going on to apply to someth...

Re: IAPT updates?

.... why we aren't seeing any figures or getting any information, or am I just too impatient? Interesting to hear about the UCL update. . There's figures and information out there - the HSCIC put out IAPT figures every month (for what they're worth given they all hinge on correct input at the clini...

Re: IAPT updates?

There is talk about co-location of IAPT staff in Job Centres. Controversial - I expect you've seen the debates - there were demonstrations in Lambeth e.g. http://www.disabilitynewsservice.com/protesters-to-march-on-jobcentre-over-mental-health-therapy-links/ The IAPT programme has been adopted in N...

Re: IAPT updates?

The access targets work out that 600 a people a month have to start treatment in some busy urban services I know - so it's groups, groups, groups to try and meet that. This can't be right. If a service operates on a 15% of the local population accessing treatment, then a target of 600 people a mont...

Re: IAPT updates?

usual suspects still in charge as far as I know, always seem to be speaking at conferences, don't seem to bother much with the website anymore. It's not reduce wait times by 75% is it for 75% to be seen in 6 weeks for treatment. Services under mass pressure to meet KPIs for access, wait times, and r...

Re: surviving targets

Thank you for the detailed reply Deadwing. It's really heartening to hear of a service where someone feels supported and where things that help the job along, like having a printer at the right place at the right time are in place. The Service where I did most of my work had few paper referrals, mos...

Re: surviving targets

I don't feel any of the pressure mentioned above in our service, .... I love working for IAPT, it's one of the least stressful and most enjoyable jobs I've ever had. Fascinated by this post, this is the first time in seven years involvement with IAPT I've heard someone describe their job in IAPT as...

Re: Recovery targets

Is the answer really to focus the therapy on the outcomes of the questionnaire? Whose interests would that serve? The commissioners? The managers? Yours? ...the client's? I think this is an example of how targets become horribly problematic. If there is a short term therapy being offered I think we...

Re: Recovery targets

Do you use mental health clustering in your service or, if not, can you try to work out yourself the clusters of your caseload using the manuals available? The MHCT is available on line. In my experience, clusters 1 - 2 people tend to hit the numbers, a good percentage of cluster 3, once you get abo...
