Re: Paediatric psychometric assessments

Hi Beth, Congratulations on your interview and good luck. I can't really help you on the specific tests, however you might want to think around some of wider considerations about conducting assessments. e.g. where will you do them/how will the environment affect the test etc? e.g. would it be feasib...

Hi Ve123 welcome to the site. Spend a bit of time looking around the forum and you will find this question has been asked previously and many, many people have responded so hopefully that will give you the information and inspiration you want. Use the search function, or browse through the topic are...

Re: Locum Clinical Psychologist

Hmmm, Thanks guys - I will do that! I just need to get organised. There are about 5 different options open to me atm - negotiating with my current employer to keep me on 2 days a week, negotiating some possible extra work at new place (although this is not looking likely in the immediate future), so...

Re: Locum Clinical Psychologist

This is something I am also currently exploring as I am about to take a leap away from a permanent full time band 7 to a temp, part time 8a (at times this feels like a very risky choice, but currently I am seeing it as an opportunity! ha!). So I am currently looking to set up some part time locum wo...

Re: Punctuation error on application...

If it helps, I submitted my application form with a spelling mistake - even after myself and so many other people proof read it to death. I was mortified. But it didn't stop me getting two interviews and then a place. As blue cat says it is unlikely to be the absolute deciding factor. And as there i...

Re: Help...Assistant Psychologist Position

Just as reference and to give some context, most AP posts are heavily over-subscribed. My supervisor at the time told me 220 people applied in a week for the research AP post I eventually got (5 years ago). I think they interviewed less than 10 people. It doesn't mean you don't have some really good...

Re: Online Application - Really a 3000 Character Limit?

My question with regards to ACT (or acceptance and commitment therapy) would be what are you trying to get across? Saying I have used ACT principles with clients doesn't add much. But saying I have helped clients work towards accepting difficulties with X is showing a greater understanding, in my vi...

Re: How long does it take for you to commute to work?

If I drove (at the right time in rush hour!) it can take me only 35 minutes to get to work. But I currently get the train for 20 minutes and then cycle for 25. Door to door with getting changed, waiting for trains etc, my commute normally takes me 1 hour 15. But I hate sitting in traffic and I like ...

Re: Full Time Equivalent Section

Maybe have a look at some of your paychecks (i don't know but maybe 6 months over that 18 months) and average out your monthly hours and then divide by 4 to get some rough figure?? It might be a starting point.

Re: Lancaster online test

I'm pretty sure there are lots of threads about the Lancaster (and other online tests) on the forum - use the search function and find some of those threads. The Lancaster website is also quite comprehensive I believe in providing information about their screening process. On another note - and i'm ...

Re: Thoughts on taking a year out

Again do it! - I went travelling straight from school then took an extra year in my degree and it has never hindered me in my progression. If anything I see it as a positive - you will be a year older, more mature, more well rounded and it will give you more balance when applying for jobs when you a...

Re: Therapist and mental health experience vs research?

I think you will have some excellent experience to reflect on in your application. And I would say you have the minimum research experience you need to apply. What would be more important to me would be using your application for to show what experience you have gained from your current role and why...

Re: Application 2016 despair already

I'm a bit further on down the line - being qualified but I saw this thread and it resonated with me! I'm currently trying to write up an audit report - one that has been a little contentious in my team. I started on Monday and was overwhelmed - didn't know where to start, I was getting angry at myse...

Re: Patient panel interviews

As an aside in a recent qualified interview I was asked what job I would be doing if I wasn't a clinical Psychologist (naturally it was open a cake and knitting shop - isn't that what every other psychologist wants to do?!) As Miriam points out sometimes interviewers, whether service user or staff, ...
