Re: Clinical Psychology VS Graduate Medicine

GEM is something I have been thinking about for the past year or so now, I have decided to go for it this year as I feel I may regret it if I dont try! The more I think about medicine the more I feel that its probably more me than clinical psychology..if theres anyone thats crossed over with any adv...

Re: Too many AP posts...am I past it?....

Thank you for your very reassuring replies which are very much appreciated. I think this year I will work harder at my form and think about how best to put across the diversity of my experiences and how I have developed. My posts to date have been paid, a year long and I have worked the full 12 mont...

Re: Too many AP posts...am I past it?....

Thankyou for your replies. I was shortlisted for interview on the leicester course and was unsuccessful post interview. It was my first ever clinical interview and feedback from the other universities stated that I could do with 'more varied clinical experience' there was no mention on the academic ...

Too many AP posts...am I past it?....

Hi all, I have this week secured an AP post, I was unsuccessful in my application for clinical (second attempt). I have a low 2:1 and have previously posted my concerns about this…(unable to afford postgrad at moment) The thing is this is my third AP post and I have had feedback that this will not l...

verbal presentation

Hi all, I have a query regarding 'verbal presentations' at interview. I have an interview later this month and as part of the interview I will have to do a verbal presentation (topic will be given on the day :? ). I am quite alarmed by this as I feel I have no way to prepare and I will just have to ...

Re: Do I need more?

Yes this is something that I am seriously considering now. I will either have my contract extended for my current AP post (unsure whether this will happen yet) and also apply for research jobs. I am considering doing a postgraduate certificate but it would have to be distance learning and I will hav...

Re: Do I need more?

Your degree class will play a part in whether or not you are shortlisted for some courses, but by no means all. Your degree class will not play a part in whether or not you are selected post interview. Selection after interviews is based on performance in the interview not on information on the app...

Re: Do I need more?

Thanks for the reply, it was for the Leicester Course. I had some significant difficulties during uni which can be evidenced so I am assuming this is why I managed to get an interview at Leicester despite their 'strict' mid 2:1 criteria (I think this is the case as I doubt they missed the fact that ...

Do I need more?

Hi all This was my second year applying for the DClinPsy (though my first serious attempt) I was shortlisted for one interview (after a screening test). I was unsuccessful at interview and it has really hit my confidence. I am aware that this is the case for many people the first few times however f...

Re: Leicester Interview

Hi Aiesha I think a similar query has been posted under 'Leicester assessment day', I have the interview next week too and I must admit I am working hard to keep my anxiety levels at bay (lots of skating and yoga!!) I am prepping by thinking quite reflectively about my experiences alongside thinking...

Re: Progress thread for clinical applications 2011

I'm 25 years old and have wasted the last 7 years of my life following a ridiculously implausible dream. When I think of the time, effort and money I've put into following this dream I feel sick. Now if I want to retrain in something else I have to pay international fees so it's a double blow. £800...

Re: Progress thread for clinical applications 2011

Remember it only takes one! :D Thanks Aiesha, I know it only takes one and many people have secured a place after one interview and hoping that will be the case for me...I am quite worried about the upcoming leicester interview. Really want to get on training this year! (as we all do :) ) Must say ...
