Re: Health Psychology Careers

I'm currently doing the MSc at Sussex and I really enjoy it. I also applied to Bath and had an offer, the location of Sussex won me over though :D

I hope you enjoy Bath, its a beautiful place.

Re: Should I give up on 'the dream'?

I agree with the points above that only you can reflect on your experience and make the final decision. But maybe its more about at least attempting at the 'dream' before deciding its time to give up? Then you know you have tried and it gives more weight to a decision that enables a back up plan to ...

Re: Attitudes to smoking and cessation research

I'd be very interested in reading this research - I'm currently working on data that is looking at the how the smoking policies (e.g. the pictures, words and not white packs) have affected (if at all) the behaviour of smokers or their attitudes towards smoking. Huge topic at the moment with the Stat...

Re: People with a low 2:1 - any success?

Hey, Not personally but I have a few friends who got on last year with a low 2:1 so it can be done. For example, one of girls just made it to a 2:1, her experience was voluntary work with survivors of domestic abuse during her undergrad, healthcare assistant for 12 months, masters in Health Psycholo...

Re: Which masters and where?

Hi, you sound like you have a difficult decision to make. I was unsure what you meant about meeting the right people at Sussex - is there a famous psychologist working there? I think that moving to a new area to study is a very different experience to staying put. You will need a support network an...

Re: Which masters and where?

I guess you are the only one that can decide which one will suit you best in the long term. Although I don't do health, I'm currently completing a masters at Sussex and have friends that are doing the health course. The health psychology course had to complete a stats module in latent variables in ...

First ever AP interview...

So, 10 months after graduation and in my current job I have finally landed my first assistant psychologist interview - I am so excited but also very nervous! Its at St Andrews in Northampton Women Services - to be honest I'm quite surprised I got short listed as my experience is limited compared to ...

Re: The Psychologist

Afternoon all, As an eager psychology graduate those moons ago I dutifully subscribed to the BPS and became a member and in return was sent monthly editions of ‘The Psychologist’ publication/magazine. If I'm honest most of them are hardly read. I completed the crossword once, sent it off, and didn’...

Re: Which masters and where?

Hi nomnom, The two masters you have chosen are in very different areas of psychology and whichever you choose, if you decide after completion to continue in that field, will allow you to work in different settings and populations. I did the MSc in Clinical and Forensic Psychology at the IOP and thi...
