Congratulations!!!! Hope the pregnancy goes well, being born in July I'm sure they'll both be wonderful, clever, tall, beautiful etc etc (not that I'm in anyway biased at all being a July baby myself... ahah!) *jokes*

Thanks guys. I'm a bit over-awed by the news at the moment, and scared, but also feel quite positive about it. Its hard to turn the weird physical sensations (feeling freqently bloated and in need of a wee, even now I'm less nauseous) and intellectual knowledge that I'm pregnant into a belief that there will be tangible babies in a few months time. It was totally impossible for me to get my head around, but the scan has been a first step towards reality, and although I've not gained any weight yet, I do seem to be gradually changing shape.

I think it will be a tremendous life change, and might well take me away from work in a much more substantial way than I expected. My current plan is to use a year of maternity as a minimum, and then to decide whether to negotiate a longer career break to follow that. Rather than returning to work I could potentially just pick up small amounts of private work, which might feel more flexible. Thankfully because I've been saving up money from my private work we can manage financially without my income for quite a while anyway, so we can make a decision that feels right, rather than out of necessity.

I always find this kind of comment quite funny - as if it translates to, "Well done for having unprotected sex!" :D

And where Mel points out the finer points of July babies...being a May girl myself, with sisters born in June, July and August, I can firmly vouch that summer babies are the most kind, loving and generous people on this earth
