The same or not?

Post by DrFurbs » Tue Oct 27, 2009 11:34 am

Evaluation and Critical Evaluation. Do these mean the same thing or not? I ask, well I shouldn't, I bloody know they mean different things except that my very nice tutor has specified they more or less mean the same thing.

I disagree, and now Im lumped with rewriting a whole essay over again!

Evaluate: An evaluation is similar to a critique, although it may imply a more general discussion of a program or theory's strengths and weaknesses. See criticize/critique.

Critique:
Make a detailed judgement. What are the strengths and weaknesses of the thing you are judging? Is it correct? Is it morally acceptable? Does it make sense? Is it too costly? Include any judgement that is relevant to what you are critiquing. Your judgement or conclusion must be backed up with evidence.
