Online/Telephone Career Advice

Post by Android18 » Fri Apr 03, 2020 8:49 pm

I was wondering if anyone knows of any online/telephone career advice services, particularly any that specialise in healthcare or even psychology? I've had a couple of set backs recently and feel really flat and demotivated about pursuing psychology. I think for my self-care, I just can't put myself through this anymore and want to explore alternate career options.

I remember meeting a careers advisor when I did my masters and it was a really good experience. But I think I graduate too long ago to qualify for further career's advice form that uni (which was about 5 years ago).

I thought maybe with the current corona pandemic, maybe some careers advice services which would normally require face to face meetings have mvoed to telephone/online contact?

There is a really good careers website here: https://nationalcareers.service.gov.uk/ with loads of tools to fill in online that explore different aspects of your career aspirations and can perhaps offer some guidance?

Thanks Miriam. I did the skills assessment test, and the first thing that came up was Clinical Psychologist. :P Second was Psychiatrist.. Then there was also Criminal Intelligence Analyst, which I'd never thought about before and looks really interesting. Although you have to apply to MI5 and it also has a tough application/interview process.. I guess at the end of the day, the most interesting careers are going to be highly competitive.

Apparently I should be a chef. Perhaps I am well suited to that job, apart from the whole not being that great a cook thing.
