well done!! That happened to a friend of mine last year - very late in the summer she got a place. Pregnancy? well, perhaps, but it could be anything!! anything can happen to people, which might make starting in September not possible.

Well done to the PhDers also. I would say it is less work than the clinical doctorate, as you get to be your own boss and manage your own time, and work from home whenever you like :) it is a fantastic journey a PhD (you get to know yourself like never beofre - invaluable), and perhaps could also open the clinical door for you later. I have done many amazing things during my PhD, outside of PhD work, and it's nice to have a PhD!

Thank you :D it's really exciting!

I agree about PHDs - my sister is doing one at Cambridge at the minute and it sounds so interesting! Hard work but there is definitely a lot of flexibility :)

Good luck to everyone whatever you are doing in September!x

Not sure on the circumstances why and I hope the person who's place I have filled is ok...but I guess it shows anything can happen even this late into the process!

Congratulations! It must be fantastic to have an offer post-deadline! I haven't heard of this happening before, good work! :D

It's taken a few days to post as it's taken a few days to sink in:

Bath has turned to Bath after a last minute phonecall on Friday!

I was so shocked I couldn't even speak and had to call back later to accept!

Just goes to show, this must happen slightly more than we think and might give other reserve listers hope next year!

So, got to quit my new job (awkward) and move to Bristol by next month to start!

Absolutely over the bloody moon :D
