Do most applicants invited to interview have publications?

My understanding from past years is that RHUL interview last out of the London unis and so there reserve list for interviews moves quite a bit generally!

So excited for the greens fingers crossed for the oranges and commiserations to the reds
Thanks Randomswirls! Let's hope so! :) Good luck with your unis!

Hi Hopeful,
I have one publication in a peer-reviewed journal and two are currently being reviewed (but I don't think they care until they are actually published)... not sure if that helps...

Thank you ClinPsyOo. I was involved in some research years ago when I worked in NHS. It was in press when I left that position but not sure if it was ever published so I didn't include it in my application, regretting it a bit now!

Oh my goodness that seems bonkers!
Yeah it's pretty interesting! I think it just shows that there's no way of predicting it. Every year there are new applicants so it just depends who you are up against. Although it is frustrating not to have had the same success as last year I did learn a lot from those interviews so I'm hoping I just get the one chance this year to show it!!

And I have had no publications!

Might be worth tracking it down :) My philosophie is: If it fits on the form, put it in ;) Good luck!

Selection tests clearly count in my favour.

I notice someone has put up a 'no interview' from Edinburgh. My friend and I haven't heard a thing yet. Has anyone else heard from Edinburgh?
I withdrew my application.

Seen as I done the same test for Cardiff and Lancaster, likely that puts me out of the running there also! Ah well. Best of luck to everyone who has an interview so far :)

Hey all,

Second timer here. Remembered someone saying last year that it was just as important to share good and bad news to help prevent skewed perceptions arising and to show the balanced reality of this process for all. In that spirit!...

2016 (1st Attempt)
Edinburgh
Glasgow
Teeside
Manchester

2017 (2nd Attempt)
Edinburgh
Glasgow
Teeside
Manchester

Really hoping this isn't a case of history repeating!

Best of luck to all. :)

A.
