1. Please could you tell me more about the written test and the multiple choice tests that people sit in February? What topics are they on?

The MCQ covers a range of topics related to research design, analysis and interpretation, whereas the written test helps us to assess candidates ability to assimilate, integrate and present information in a succinct manner.

2. How much do you utilise the personal statements in the selection process-are these rated? And are these looked at prior to the tests?

All aspects of the application are considered by the selection team, and all those who meet our minimum criteria are invited to sit the MCQ and selection tests. The personal statement is particularly important in that it allows candidates to demonstrate that their values are in accordance with both the NHS and Course ethos.

3. What makes Surrey's course different to other DClinPsy courses?

For further details I suggest you read the entry in the Alternative Handbook https://www1.bps.org.uk/system/files/us ... 8%20v6.pdf where you will see that the course is well liked by current trainees.

Just 15 minutes left in the live chat so if anyone has a question now would be a good time to let us know...

Emma asks "Do you know if a copy of the Live Chat will be saved? I work in an inpatient unit and I am unable to log on to the computer for the session."

As far as I know, this thread will be available indefinitely.

This thread will remain on the forum in open access. When conversations happen in the LiveChat space someone has to manually archive them. But that isn't how this Q&A has been formatted.

Some people may have worried they missed the chat as it was structured as a forum Q&A, rather than a real time event in the LiveChat space, despite the title. It looks like a few people checked the LiveChat at the scheduled time (eg emmaku13, AliceCharlotte3, molly3113) but others may have been put off by the (0) indicating nobody was signed in. If that is the case and you have questions for the Surrey team, do let us know and we will try to post answers on this thread.

Good luck!
