Hi all,

Possibly the most stressful week ahead as I'm still waiting for hear back from all the courses I applied for and I have been refreshing my emails every 2 seconds!

This is my 3rd time:

UEL (sat test)
Newcastle
Glasgow
Hertfordshire

Good luck to all the people that are still waiting and my congratulations to the ones that managed to secure an interview!
No email from Herts but Clearing house status had changed.

I thought I should post so that I add to the multiple applications list in hopes that it will alleviate some of the worries that comes with no interviews.

This is probably my 4th/5th application- lost count.
1st time was 2014 and I had an interview with Holloway and reserve at UCL.
Since then no interviews and I have been an AP since 2013. I have an MSc also. I had a daughter almost 3 years ago so was out for a year or so.
This year though it has been much better.

Hertfordshire
UCL

Holloway
UEA

I also have a PhD interview on Thursday with Uni Essex and another at UCL.
I guess my point is- since Sept 2018 when I returned from maternity, I decided to work as an RA due to limited research experience and AP. I was lucky to get a publication out of it. In the meantime, I looked for a plan B and got interested in PhDs.
So if Dclin is defo for you, keep at it but make sure you are enjoying what you currently do or find something better in the meantime. Always have a plan B and C also.
All the best.

No i checked clearing house as this was mentioned in the previous posts... if you go to your application status it will tell you the outcome... It looks like Herts only emailed the people whom they shortlisted... the process gets more and more unkind.....

This is my 5th year applying and to be quite honest I thought last year was my last - I have never actually posted my progress on here before, but thought that by doing so I might help to give a wider perspective for those who like me 'lurk' on here and feel frustrated with what does feel like an unfair process at times.

1st Year
University of Birmingham
Leicester
Oxford
Kings College London

2nd Year
Birmingham
Cov/Warwick
Hertfordshire
Oxford

3rd Year
Birmingham
UEL
Hertfordshire
Trent

4th Year
Birmingham
Oxford

Hertfordshire
Cov/Warwick

5th Year (this time around)
University of Birmingham
Hertfordshire
Coventry/Warwick
Staffordshire

This year I am trying my best to be accepting of whatever happens rather than viewing any rejections as 'I am a failure' which often crops up for many at this time of year!

Good Luck every-one! :D
Feeling happy that I have another shot this year!

I'm posting this in the spirit of the plea to post rejections, not just successes. I haven't heard from any of the universities I applied to this year, but wanted to give you all a run down of my lengthy reject experience to date. I have roughly 7 years' experience in support work, clinical research and AP posts. I have an undergraduate unrelated degree, and a psychology conversion MSc, two publications and another underway. I have applied for the doctorate 4 times, and I have never been given an interview straight off the bat. The interviews I've received (2 in total) have been reserve list interviews. I just want to post to offer those of you out there who have struggled with rejections too:

2016:
RHUL
IoPPN
UCL
Salomons

2017:
RHUL
IoPPN ---- > IoPPN
UEL
Salomons

2018:
UCL
IoPPN
Glasgow ----> Glasgow
Manchester

2019:
UCL
IoPPN
Glasgow
Manchester

2020:
Glasgow
Leeds
Edinburgh
Newcastle

For many of us this is not an easy or straightforward process, and the sheer scale of 'successes' we see on this progress thread can worsen feelings of inadequacy and 'failure'. It's been a long process for me, and I am hanging in there for another year, but will be looking for other options soon :)

Hey! that is amazing NE400Effect. Well done. I bet you’re happy. May I ask what your experience has been so far? I’m a first year applicant too, so feel like I need some inspiration from similar people :)

First time applying, I have a 1st in Bsc Psychology and was a volunteer hospice ward assistant and MH befriender whilst doing this. After graduating I was a MH support work for 1.5 years, a harm reduction worker (substance misuse) for 10 months and now been a Primary Care Mental Health Practitioner for 5 months.

Sheffield
Liverpool
Manchester (completed tests)
South Wales (completed tests)

Disappointed of course, I knew it was likely I would be unsuccessful before applying but as it goes on I became more and more optimistic, which it is still good to be optimistic I guess. Life goes on, I will be applying again in the autumn. Good luck to everyone else!

First time applying. I'm an AP but not a huge amount of clinical experience compared to others!
