Honorary Psychology Support roles available Nationally - Covid bereavement support

Bereavement charity run by Clinical Psychologists
Looking for new Bereavement Support Volunteers (National)

The Loss Foundation is a registered charity specialising in providing bereavement support for people whose loved ones die of cancer. The charity is run by volunteer clinical psychologists and doctors (qualified and in training), as well as those from other professions.

In response to the pandemic, the charity now also supports people who lose a loved one to coronavirus. Support groups and therapy events are currently running online, but we hope in-person support will start again in the coming months.

Our wonderful charity team is expanding and we are looking to take on more compassionate, reliable and conscientious volunteers with excellent communications skills and an interest in helping others as we scale up our support nationally.

Volunteer roles involve co-facilitating bereavement support groups and events for people whose loved ones have died from cancer or Covid-19; having supervision with co-facilitators (clinical psychologists), and contributing to the development and growth of the charity’s support. Training is provided in line with the Department of Health’s Standard of Care for Bereavement Support.

The successful candidates will have excellent organisational skills, flexibility, and enthusiasm for learning more about bereavement support. Volunteers will receive scheduled supervision from Clinical Psychologists, and have the opportunity to contribute to research. The charity offers excellent training and opportunities and CPD for people who are keen to pursue careers in psychology. We are also very open to welcoming applications from people outside of the world of psychology with a general interest in helping others.

You can see more information on our work, and see our current team, on our website here: https://thelossfoundation.org/meet-the-team/

We are passionate about offering the best possible care to an often-ignored population. We ask for at least an 1-year+ commitment, which involves facilitating at least twice a month. You can find out more about the charity at www.thelossfoundation.org

Please email Rohan Misthry, Charity Administrator, at rohan@thelossfoundation.org with a letter of interest and a copy of your CV by the end of the day on the 1st November 2020. Successful candidates will be invited to an online interview with some of the charity’s team.
