Edinburgh 2009

Post by helloimnew » Tue Jun 02, 2009 2:18 pm

Hello, I thought I'd start a post for anyone with a place at Edinburgh this year and people already there. I don't know anyone to be on the course or who will be in my region (tayside) so would love to learn more about places to live, whether to commute/move, meeting up etc. Hope others on the course old and new will post so I'm not on my lonesome here. Congradulations to all x

Hi helloimnew....

This is very exciting! A post for Edinburgh Cohort 2009! :D

I don't unfortunately know much about Tayside but would be more than happy to meet prior to October for a bit of a "get to know".

Anyone else fancy it?

Ana - I'd definately be up for that! Yellowflower - I have family in the Highlands so am reasonably familiar with it. Inverness is lovely. Where you relocating from?

I'm taking my Edinburgh place and I'm based in Elgin!

Would definitely be up for meeting!

Yellowflower I'm originally from Inverness so can give you any info you need!

How did people write acceptance? It just says write to administrator! Do I write Dear Adminsitrator?

Small thing to stress about I know!

Oh I'm so glad to hear that Inverness is nice, I'm relocating from outside the UK and don't know Scotland at all. Is Inverness a big place? I've been trying to figure out where I'll end up living for most of the three years but I haven't got the NHS letter yet so I don't know exactly where my placements will be, just that they are up north!

I found out by email on Friday, was so surprised! Still hasn't properly sunk in :D

Scottish people are supposed to be very nice, I'm a bit scared about not knowing anyone but hopefully the 2009 group will be a nice bunch :D

You guys excited? I'd love to meet before the course starts :)

Oh, and Vars, I wrote my acceptance letter in a business kind of style (with mine and their address up top, Dear NHS Administrator, and yours sincerely). Hope thats right

That's what I did!

Yellowflower, where are you relocating from? Inverness is quite a small city but it's nice. You will likely be based there and will maybe have travelling to do so I'd say you'd want to be living there.

Scottish people are lovely! :D

Hey Vars,

I e-mailed to check that Edinburgh had received my acceptance fax and got a response from the administrator.

I also received a letter from the Clearing House yesterday saying they had been informed by Edinburgh that I had accepted my offer. However I faxed my acceptance in on Monday.

I only sent my acceptance letter in yesterday so wouldn't expect to hear back till next week. Will feel much more real once we receive our nhs contracts and info on moving etc. Can't wait for that :)

I think (in Grampian anyway) there's only 1, dont think there are going to be so many this year

I'm starting to get into worrying now that something will go wrong and I wont get my place!

In our year (2008) the majority of places were flexi but I'm sure this year the majority are full-time :)
